At Truman Orthodontics, we provide advanced orthodontic solutions in Las Vegas for kids, teens, and adults. We specialize in the latest, state-of-the-art orthodontic treatments, including metal braces, clear braces, Invisalign and our very own custom clear aligners (TruSmile). No matter the type of braces you choose, we are committed to working with you to find a solution that perfectly fits your needs and your schedule. Truman Orthodontics will give you the best braces in Las Vegas!
Las Vegas, braces are better than ever. In fact, today, metal braces are made from high-grade stainless steel to provide you the highest-quality treatment. As the most common type of braces worn today, metal braces are now smaller, more comfortable, and more attractive than they used to be.
These Las Vegas braces are less visible than traditional metal braces. Ceramic braces are made from a clear, ceramic material that offers a comfortable, discreet treatment option. As a translucent alternative to metal brackets, ceramic braces are popular among our adult and teen patients.
Looking for a more discreet way to straighten your smile? At Truman Orthodontics in Las Vegas, we’ve discovered that a lot of our teen and adult patients want a more subtle way to straighten their teeth than with traditional braces or ceramic braces. Many of our patients come into our office wanting “clear braces” instead of “metal braces”, and we’ve found Invisalign to be an effective option for many smiles. Another bonus to getting Invisalign is that they can be removed when you eat or drink so there are no dietary restrictions. Not to mention it is easier to properly brush and floss your teeth. If you are searching for discreet adult braces, we have solutions for you.
At Truman Orthodontics in Las Vegas, we’ve created our own clear aligner system called TruSmile. This state-of-the-art teeth straightening system is just like Invisalign, only less expensive because your aligners are made right here, in-house. What’s great about our aligners is that they can easily transform smiles that need a little tweak instead of resorting to a less than superior direct-to-consumer option that may not be reliable. Here, you don’t have to worry about any of that because Dr. Truman and our team will create custom aligners designed by us for you. So, if you are looking to reveal your TruSmile, our TruSmile clear aligners are just the ticket.
Check out our 3 incredible levels:
Dr. Mark Truman and his incredible Las Vegas orthodontic team believe that the adolescent period is the perfect time to treat orthodontic problems. After all, by this time, your child’s baby teeth will have fallen out and their permanent teeth will have already grown in, making this the perfect time to fix improper alignment, tooth spacing issues, or an uneven bite. Another reason why getting braces as a teen is great is that your child won’t be the only one in their class with braces. In fact, many of their friends will be in braces, too. Here at Truman Orthodontics, we’re proud to give kids and teens in and around the Las Vegas area quality orthodontic care that will not only correct their orthodontic problems but will also give them the confidence to keep smiling!
More and more adults today are seeking orthodontic treatment in Las Vegas to improve their smile. In fact, about 25 percent of our patients are adults! We offer a full range of treatments specifically designed for adults. From traditional metal braces and clear braces to clear aligners and Invisalign, we are confident we can help you achieve and maintain the beautiful, healthy smile you’ve always dreamed about.
Orthodontic treatment is not only designed to improve the appearance of your smile but improve the health of your teeth and gums as well. By seeking orthodontic treatment as an adult, you can possibly avoid severe tooth decay, gum and bone loss, and irregular wear of the tooth enamel.
Why should I choose an orthodontic specialist?
Teeth, and sometimes entire facial structures, are permanently changed by orthodontic treatment. It is important that the treatment be appropriate and properly completed. Our doctors have extensive and specialized training that enables them to provide their patients with professional, personalized treatments.
Is it required that my dentist refer me to see an orthodontist?
No, you do not need a dentist referral. You may contact our office at (702) 360-9000 to schedule your free consultation.
At what age should my child see the orthodontist?
Along with the American Association of Orthodontists, we recommend that a child have an orthodontic evaluation at 7 years old. Permanent teeth are starting to replace baby teeth, so now is the perfect time to start tracking a child’s jaw growth and development. During your child’s initial evaluation, Dr. Truman and Dr. Joe will determine if there are any problems that need to be addressed. Odds are your child will not need braces at this time. This complimentary consultation is meant to identify growth issues and prevent more severe orthodontic complications from developing. More than likely, this will be an introduction to our office and your child will enter our Triple G Club, where we help Grow Great Grins! As a member of the club, we will closely monitor your child’s orthodontic health with complimentary check-ins.
Will teeth straighten as they grow?
No, they will not. The space available for the front teeth does not increase as you grow. In most people, after the permanent molars erupt, the space available for the front teeth decreases with age.
How do I schedule my free consultation?
If you are interested in orthodontic treatment, simply call our office at (702) 360-9000 and we will be happy to get you scheduled. For your convenience you may schedule your consultation online here.
What will happen at the initial consultation appointment?
Upon arriving, each patient and parent will be greeted by a team member and taken on a tour of our office. We will take the necessary photographs and X-rays to allow us to make a proper diagnosis. You will meet with our treatment coordinator and either Dr. Truman or Dr. Joe and be presented with your individualized treatment plan.
What will I learn during the initial examination?
Do braces hurt?
After certain visits, teeth may be sore for a few days when biting or chewing. In these situations, pain medications such as Advil or Tylenol will ease the discomfort.
How often will I have appointments?
Appointments are scheduled according to each patient’s needs. Most patients in braces will be seen every eight to ten weeks.
Can I return to school the day I get my braces?
Yes. There is no reason to miss school because of an orthodontic appointment.
Can I still play sports with braces?
Yes. We recommend a mouth guard for all sports.
Do I need to see my dentist while in braces?
Yes! Regular checkups with your dentist are important while in braces. Your dentist will determine the intervals between cleaning appointments while you are in braces.
Are there foods restrictions with braces?
When you begin treatment, we will review which foods and food types to avoid. Mainly foods that are hard, sticky or chewy may damage your braces.
How often should I brush my teeth while in braces?
Patients should brush their teeth at least 3 times each day – after each meal and before going to bed. Don’t worry, we will show you how to brush and floss with braces.
What if I need assistance after hours?
If you are experiencing orthodontic discomfort and are unable to wait for normal office hours, we have an on-call assistant available who will help you find a solution to your problem, or, if necessary, will meet you at the office.
Can orthodontic treatment begin while a child still has baby teeth?
Yes. Some orthodontic problems are significant enough to require early intervention. However, if a patient is not yet ready for treatment, we will follow that patient’s growth and development until the time is right for treatment to begin. During this time, we will closely monitor your child’s orthodontic health with complimentary check-ins.
What is Phase 1 (early) treatment?
Phase 1 treatment, if necessary, is usually initiated for children between the ages of 7 and 10. Phase 1 treatment lasts about one year. The primary objective for Phase 1 treatment is to address significant problems and prevent them from becoming more severe and to improve self-esteem and self-image. Some reasons for Phase 1 treatment could be thumb sucking, narrow palate, severe protrusion of the teeth or underbite.
Will my child need braces if he/she has Phase 1 Treatment?
It is best to assume that your child will need full braces even after Phase 1 treatment. The period following Phase 1 treatment is called the “resting period”. Throughout this period, parents and patients will be kept informed of future treatment recommendations. Phase 2 begins when the permanent teeth are erupted and is essential for finishing treatment.
How often do I wear my trays (aligners)?
We recommend you wear your aligners all day and night, only removing them to eat, brush, floss and while drinking anything but water.
Do aligners hurt?
When changing to a new tray, teeth may be sore for a few days when biting or chewing. In these situations, pain medications such as Advil or Tylenol will ease the discomfort.
Will wearing aligners affect my speech?
Aligners may temporarily affect speech for a day or two while your tongue gets used to the aligners.
Are there food restrictions with aligners?
No. Because you remove the aligners before eating or drinking, there are no restrictions.
What is an orthodontist?
An orthodontist is a dental specialist who received an additional 3 years of training after completing dental school, specifically in learning how to safely and properly move teeth. He is able to straighten teeth, correct misaligned jaw structure and improve the function of your smile.
