Yep. It’s true. Dr. Mark Truman has 6 kids. 6! That’s almost a baseball team. Having this many children is proof that Dr. Truman loves being around people. In fact, everyone who works with him feels like he’s their BFF. Luckily, no one has started fighting over who his favorite is –yet. Seriously though, everyone who walks into our office can’t help but feel an instant connection to Dr. Truman. This is why so many people feel right at home when they come to our office.
What’s especially neat about Dr. Truman is that he’s from here. He even graduated from Clark High School! Pretty cool, huh? Well, after high school graduation, Dr. Truman headed to BYU for college and then to UCLA where he graduated from dental school with honors! He remained at UCLA and pursued a specialty in orthodontics and completed a post –doctoral course accredited by the ADA.
But, we digress, between all his education he even lived in Spain for 2 years to immerse himself in the culture and learned to speak Spanish and roll his R’s like a local. When his schooling was complete, he returned to Las Vegas and opened his practice in 2003.
Fun Fact about Dr Truman:
The reason he decided to become an orthodontist goes all the way back to when his younger brother got braces. “I always thought it was so fascinating that teeth and bites could be changed so dramatically.” Not only that, Dr. Truman says, “My neighbor growing up was an orthodontist and I always looked up to him and the way he ran his business.”To say that Dr. Truman is now living his dream is truly an understatement. Dr. Mark loves everything there is about helping people get the smiles of their dreams and to keep smiling!
When Dr. Truman isn’t transforming smiles, he’s either helping out in the community or spending time with his wife, their 6 children and 2 Grandkids, laughing until their cheeks hurt.
Dr. Joe Dougherty loves people. He loves making them laugh, making them smile, and most importantly making them feel confident. That’s why Dr. Joe loves being an orthodontist in Las Vegas, Nevada. Not only does it let him combine his love for art and science, but it also gives him the chance to help people. And that means more to Dr. Joe than anything.
Growing up in the southwest suburbs of Chicago, Dr. Joe was a busy kid, participating in basketball, theater, and even madrigal choir. Having all of these different interests has really helped him connect with his patients on a personal level today.
Fun Fact about Dr. Joe:
He first earned a B.A. in Neuroscience from Carthage College – a serious accomplishment in and of itself – but then also competed as part of the NCAA Men’s Volleyball team while he was there, too. After graduation, he went on to receive both M.B.S and D.M.D degrees at Midwestern University’s College of Dental Medicine in Downers Grove, Illinois. Then, it was off to the city of neon lights and desert –Las Vegas – where he completed his training at Roseman University, earning a Specialty Diploma in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics as well as an MBA.
When Dr. Joe isn’t creating amazing smiles for his patients or shooting hoops, you can find him exploring the surrounding area with his best friend and wife, Alissa, whom he met when he was just 10 years old. I guess you could say when you know, you know, right? Well, Dr. Joe certainly knew Alissa was meant for him and in 2013 they were married at Disney World.
