Orthodontic Health Month & Halloween
As National Orthodontic Health Month also occurs in the same month as Halloween, we will be making sure that every patient is aware of the negative effects that eating Halloween goodies can have on your teeth with or without braces. Limiting the candy you eat, or at least the type of candy, can have a huge impact on your treatment.
Although we do not condone eating candy as it is bad for your oral health, if you are going to indulge this Halloween, be sure you are eating the types of treats that will not harm your braces. We recommend you steer clear of hard, crunchy, sticky, and gooey candy and snacks. If your braces do become damaged or break, there are some steps you should take to ensure that you do not hurt your braces or the inside of your mouth. If you are worried that you will not be able to enjoy Halloween treats because of your braces, last year we put together a blog with a few braces-friendly Halloween recipes so you can still indulge!
